Tattoo Carolina HurricanseMedia Campaign

The Media Campaign utilizes multi-media platforms to educate North Carolina’s families about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. It also serves as the North Carolina arm of The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, a national non-profit that uses evidence-based prevention messages and activities.

The Media Campaign reaches tens of thousands of North Carolinians each year through multiple activities:

  • Placement of evidence-based Public Service Announcements with radio and television stations throughout the state, on the web, and in print publications.
  • Unselling the connection between alcohol and sporting events through programs with Wake Forest University, N.C. State University, East Carolina University and Appalachian State University.
  • Educating children and their parents about alcohol and drug abuse by partnering with the Durham Bulls and the Winston-Salem Dash baseball teams and the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team, as well as police and sheriff departments.
  • Working with media to develop stories about particular topics affecting North Carolina families, such as prescription drug abuse, underage drinking, designated driver programs, and the increased potency of marijuana.
